BLACK SKIES
Black skies that encumber my benighted horizon,
In misery keeping me constrained,
Had confined my life into this dungeon,
Causing all my hopes be drained.
Clouds of obscurity,
Dusky clouds that darken my sight,
Had blurred all of my visions,
Now my dreams bear no more light.
Evil, cruel evil,
You tempted me and made me sin!
You tricked and fooled and blinded me,
Now my whole being is unclean.
I am tortured by my conscience,
Tormented by all my iniquities.
In darkness I hear the vexations from hell,
I my loneliness, in agony I dwell.
O holy light from there above,
Divine glow of God’s benevolent love,
Touch my heart that I may change,
Unleash me now from hell-fire chains.
Replenish me and recreate,
Enlighten me and invigorate my faith,
That in His passion I may live,
And all my life, to Him I’ll give.
Angel bound with heavenly grace,
Bless me now and let my fire burn bright,
That from here and all my coming days,
These black skies shall no longer bedim my sight.
